Each volume of this three-volume set contains a few pages of introductory text, one volume with a few illustrations of floor plans, followed by a total of 146 photographic plates spread across the three volumes. The plates depict a variety of café, restaurant, and bar interiors, highlighting designs in furniture, lighting, wall treatments, decor, and other aspects of interior design. There are images of booth- and table-style seating, staircases, bars, windows, paintings, and a handful of floor plans. The influences of Art Deco design are clearly evident in these interiors, as are the dominating forces of Japanese modernist architecture.

The majority of the plates simply illustrate the interiors with no figures shown, but a handful of images depict women in kimonos, some alone and some in the company of other women. This set was published as part of an illustrated series of publications about architecture. The series as a whole is rarely found outside of Japan. As of July 2026, OCLC did not locate a single holding of this particular set anywhere in the world.
