Nicola Andreace (1934-2014) was born in Taranto, studied at the Accademia di Belle Art and became a Professor of drawing and art history. His art explored social themes such as the human condition, technology and society, human values, and historical memory. He also worked in the fields of graphic arts, sculpture, architectural structures, painting, and mixed-media.

This small volume consists of four cardstock sheets of text, printed recto only, comprising some biographical information on Andreace and a critical commentary by Franco Solmi, then the director of the Galleria Comunale d'Arte Moderna in Bologna, and twelve "schede serigrafiche" cardstock sheets with two side-by-side images per sheet, for twenty-four images in total, representing artworks by Andreace, each with a typed numbered caption to verso and each sheet of artwork signed and hand-numbered to verso in pencil. The images are graphic work blending figural and optical art styles in black-and-white.

In his introduction, Solmi writes, "Tanti sono stati gli indagatori che con bella acutezza d'analisi han districato i nodi del percorso figurale di Andreace (artista che del Sud più tecnologicamente imbrigliato s'è fatto interprete a volte ingenuo a volte sofisticatissimo) da ritenersi pressochè completamente chiarite linee e tappe, svolgimenti e stravolgimenti di un lavoro strettamente, e magari implacabilmente legato ad eventi politici, sociali e culturali che si danno per conosciuti e dai quali si possono trarre grimaldelli interpretativi capaci di aprire tutti i ripostigli delle poetiche correnti: dal realixmo fangoso di cruda derivazione popolare o populistica fino alle scintillanti ipotesi dell'estetica industriale i cui detriti, per di più convenientemente moltiplicati, possono deturpare l'ambiente con qualche eleganza. V'è tutto questo, in Andreace, senza dubbio."
