Original illustrated yellow wrappers. Issue no. 1 with some wear, tear to front cover, other covers with some scattered soiling and staining, interiors mostly clean, overall very good. A complete collection of the Parisian arts and literature journal, under the editorial direction of Jean Fraysse (1909-1942), a French poet and literary critic who disappeared in 1942 when he was about to cross the Spanish border to reach North Africa. The issues contain poetry, prose, theatrical writings, and reviews regarding fine art, dance, theater, and music.
A number of important French writers and figures made contributions to Les Feux de Paris, including Max Jacob, Roger Lannes, Jean Follain, Louise de Gonzague-Frick, Serge Lifar, Jean Giraudoux, Jean Cocteau, Eugénio d'Ors, Marie-Madeleine Machet, Pierre-Jean Launay, André Salmon, Gloria Alcorta, Jean de Bosschère, Zadkine, Alfred Courmes, Leonor Fini, Patrice La Tour du Pin, Ivan Goll, and others. The issues were beautifully printed by Guy Lévis-Mano.
