Contemporary French Visual Poetry

A consecutive run of the first ten issues of the this rare French avant-garde visual poetry magazine, profusely illustrated, issues approximately 28-32 pp. each. Quarto (11 1/2 x 8 1/8 inches). Original black-and-white printed side-stapled wrappers, housed in original pictorial slipcase-style folder. Some light wear to folder especially along fold lines and edges, first couple of issues with some light wear and toning, overal excellent. Paris: Viuw/Iprimerie Primavera, 1983-1985.

A complete first volume of this 1980's French visual poetry magazine; the Bibliotheque d'Art et d'Archeologie in Switzerland, however, shows a holding of issues 1-14. The magazine was edited by contemporary artist and visual poet Al Pavl (b. 1946), and contains visual and concrete poetry, photography, illustrations, and other works.

Each issue has its own title and theme: 1. Le Plus Ancien Outil: Age de la Pierre Taillée; 2. L'Homo Erectus; 3. Homo Erectus ou Habilis? Appropriation du Feu ou Controle du Feu?; 4. Le Cro-Magnon" - Poèsie en action s'endette, Action en poèsie sans dette. Pourquoi un seul objectif?; and 10. Un Des Trois Pas Sage: Bering - New World.
