Cielos sin Memoria.
Slim portfolio containing title page, dedication, a folded leaf with a poem written collaboratively by Alba and Maya, and a colophon; a second folded sheet with biographical information on both artists; and six engraved illustrations on art paper, three each by Alba and Maya, each illustration hand-signed, dated, and numbered in pencil along lower margin. Octavo (9 1/2 x 7 inches). Illustrated cardstock portfolio with the front flap enclosure bearing the image of a long-necked lizard eating a snake, contents loose as issued. Some light wear to portfolio, illustrations clean and bright, a couple with very minor browning around extreme outer margin edge, overall very good. Mexico City: Cuahnectepetl Ediciones, 1989. One of a limited edition of 8 hand-numbered author copies, from an edition which also included 26 numbered copies and 2 copies for the printmaking studio.
Both Fernando Alba and Ruben Maya studied at the Escuela Nacional de Artes Plásticas de la UNAM (Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México) and became professors there in the 1980s in either plastic arts or drawing and painting. This limited-edition portfolio contains three beautifully engraved prints from each of the two artists, distinguished by the use of heavy embossing.
Alba's three illustrations are all black-and-white images of snakes, with some areas of the prints blind-embossed and some inked. Maya's illustrations also utilize blind embossing and inking, with his drawings illustrating various animals and creatures. Maya's images also include highlights in bright color.
Extremely scarce; as of August 2025, we could not locate a listing for this portfolio on OCLC.
