Lise Deharme was an important figure within the Surrealist movement. Best known as the muse and love of André Breton, she was also a prolific organizer of Surrealist salons which she held at her home. Le Phare de Neuilly had its founding in these salons, and blended ethics with aesthetics to address the social and political issues facing France in the 1930s. These issues comprise a scarce and important collection of surrealist fiction, poetry, theory and photographic art.
